What do you do during inclement weather?
Read a book, catch up on some rest, catch up on work [I don’t think there’s a wrong answer here]. This break for me meant my wife and I wearing out our couch, catching up with some family and friends and making sure our Netflix and Hulu are working. Its good to decompress knowing your students, school and community are safe and tucked away.
The night before our first day out, I was chatting with Rob Breyer, @rbreyer51, AP here in NC. As we were catching up, he threw out the idea of starting a chat for the snow days. My initial reaction was overwhelmingly positive and as we brainstormed further, it became obvious were in for a great experience.
The chats that followed over the next three days [harsh weather] were great discussions and growth opportunities. We were joined by educators from across NC and some outside! #allwelcome
Our topics and moderators for the three days were:
- Getting Connected Strategies for 2014, @mccoyderek – Storify Archive
- Effective Professional Development, @rbreyer51, Storify Archive
- Turning #snowdays into #elearning days, @mrdpasion, Storify Archive
[Thanks to Rob for Storifying the chats!]
This tweet sums up our great days of learning:
#ncsnowchat Is a great example of how learning, collaboration, and connecting never really stops!

Thanks to everyone who participated and made this a great experience! Every conversation and interaction is an opportunity to grow and develop our PLNs! I’m happy we had these experiences on these days off!
