I had a great parent conference this week.
I was asked to arrange a meeting with a parent and teacher to discuss some support strategies and things that happen in the classroom that can affect students. Somewhere in the middle of our conversation, our parent made the following comment. It was so profound, I wrote it down on a post-it note so I wouldn’t forget, Tweeted later when I had the chance and now, am blogging it out:
‘Teachers fill in where parents can’t. I will pick up where you leave off.’ – Quote from one of our great parents

I love this!
Very often I hear from parents who don’t know how to engage with schools or are intimidated on creating a good partnership with teachers – this is a great formula and framework to work from.
Its simple and elegant and I can’t wait to share it with my staff. Her message expresses symbiosis, partnership, mutual benefit and best of all a clear focus on kids.
I love great parents.
